Pakistan’s Champions Trophy Journey Ends Early; New Zealand Tops Group A

Pakistan, the winners of the 2017 Champions Trophy, faced an early exit from the 2025 tournament after defeats to both New Zealand and India. This marked Pakistan’s first time hosting an ICC event since the 1996 ODI World Cup. Their aspirations were crushed following a challenging 60-run loss to New Zealand in their opening match.

India opted not to tour Pakistan for political reasons and instead played their matches in Dubai. The final will also take place in Dubai if India advances to the later stages of the tournament.

New Zealand has emerged as the dominant force in Group A, and their strong showing against Pakistan has established them as the team to beat. They are now set to face India in Dubai on Sunday, with the winner claiming the top position in Group A.

While Pakistan’s early exit has left fans disheartened, New Zealand’s consistent performance in the group keeps them firmly in contention for the trophy.
