ICC Reacts After BCCI Says No to 'Pakistan' on Team India's Champions Trophy Jerseys
The BCCI reportedly said no to having 'Pakistan' written on Team India's jerseys for the ICC Champions Trophy. The ICC has now responded to this decision.
The International Cricket Council has sent a strong message to the Indian cricket board after new reports about a disagreement. The issue is about the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly not wanting the word 'Pakistan' to appear on the team's uniforms for the Champions Trophy, as it is part of the tournament logo. According to media reports, the BCCI is not in favor of including 'Pakistan' on the team's kit, following the 'host nation rule'.
It has been suggested that the Indian team will play its Champions Trophy matches in Dubai. However, the ICC has reportedly told the Indian board that the team must have 'Pakistan' written on their uniforms because Pakistan is the original host of the tournament.
"Every team must put the tournament logo on their uniforms. All teams have to follow this rule."
The top board also reportedly mentioned that serious steps might be taken against the Indian team if the Champions Trophy logo, which includes the name of the host country Pakistan, is not seen on the players' uniforms.
According to ICC rules, teams must have the host country's name on their jerseys, no matter where the matches are taking place.
A report from IANS said that the BCCI does not want the word "Pakistan" to appear on the team's jerseys. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board has stated that they have not received any such message from the Indian board.
